The Night Prowl is an exciting adventure that will take you on a walk through the woods in Yosemite at night. One of our Interpretive Naturalists will guide you along unpaved trails and share their knowledge with you on a variety of topics ranging from nocturnal animals and their unique adaptations, to night time navigation, to Yosemite’s fascinating plant life and herb lore. Whatever the topic for the evening, you are sure to find yourself stunned by the beauty and tranquility that can only be found by exploring Yosemite at night.

What to Bring | Please dress for the weather including comfortable, close-toed footwear. As evening temperatures are much cooler than daytime temperatures, we suggest you bring warmer layers. In the winter, we advise you to wear appropriate clothing including multiple layers, waterproof outer layer, hat, gloves, and snow or hiking boots. In addition, please bring water, snacks, and a flashlight (red light recommended). Some or all of this program will occur in the dark, without flashlights. |
Accessibility | We can accommodate various special needs with advance notice. We have assistive listening devices for those who are hard of hearing or, potentially, an interpreter for participants who are Deaf. If possible, please inform us of any needs before the program. |

Take a cosmic voyage as you lay beneath the stars in Yosemite Valley. On this stargazing experience, you’ll learn about the heavens, the moon, the Milky Way galaxy, meteors, constellations, comets, and all the folklore that follows. This unique program allows you to see Yosemite at night and as never before. This program is offered as a walking tour of the night sky in Yosemite Valley in fall, winter and spring. Great for all ages.

Join a Yosemite Hospitality interpretive naturalist on a bus tour to Glacier Point where you will enjoy an astronomy program under the stars at one of the best stargazing locations in California. Available June through September, Sunday to Thursday - conditions permitting.

During the warmer months, evening presentations are held at the amphitheaters at Curry Village and Yosemite Valley Lodge. In the winter, they’re held indoors at Yosemite Valley Lodge. The free programs are typically one hour long, and reservations are not needed. Please check the Yosemite Guide for up-to-date information and offerings.
Remember to bring warm layers as evenings are typically cool, even in the summer. You'll also want to bring a flashlight.

Short days and cool nights create the perfect season for old-fashioned evenings of fireside gatherings. The setting for the Fireside Storytelling program is beside the beautiful fireplace in The Ahwahnee Great Lounge. Guests of all ages can relax for an hour of stories of Yosemite's Cultural and natural history.
